Wentworth Institute of Technology announced the hiring of Nick Baldecchi as its head women's volleyball and assistant men's volleyball coach in February, 2023.

Baldecchi established the Black & Gold as a conference powerhouse in his first season at the helm, guiding the Leopards to a CCC Championship, their first since 2018, over Endicott and an NCAA Tournament appearance. Baldecchi’s squad took down the Gulls for the first time in program history in the regular season and again topped their conference rival in five sets in the championship bout, capping a program-best 15-match win streak. The first-year head coach was named CCC Coach of the Year while freshman Emma Sanders headlined the Leopards as an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, the CCC Player of the Year, and the CCC Rookie of the Year. Graduate student Riley Waggoner was named CCC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and four others earned all-conference honors.

Baldecchi came to the Leopards from Highland Community College (Highland, Kansas) where he was hired in the summer of 2022 to coordinate all aspects of a women's volleyball program that began playing in the fall of 2023. Baldecchi was in charge of recruiting student-athletes, managing the program's budget, and creating a match schedule for the program.

Prior to arriving at Highland CC, Baldecchi worked at Lindenwood University (St. Charles, Mo.), where he was the interim assistant men's volleyball coach from October, 2021, until July, 2022, and, prior to that, was a volunteer assistant women's volleyball coach from July, 2021, until July, 2022. He was involved in many areas of both programs, including recruiting, game and practice preparation, player development, and off-season training programs. While working with the men's program, he also served as the director of volleyball operations.

In addition to his college coaching experience, Baldecchi was the Head Varsity Boys' Volleyball Coach at El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills, Calif., from January, 2009, until May, 2010, and served as Head Junior Varsity and Assistant Varsity Boys' Volleyball Coach at the Fort Zumwalt School District from March, 2021, until October, 2021. He has also worked with the High Performance Volleyball Club in St. Louis, Mo., and Club North Volleyball in Kansas City, Mo.

A 2008 graduate of the University of San Diego with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Baldecchi was a setter and team captain for the Toreros. Baldecchi transferred to the University of San Diego from Santa Barbara Community College where, during his career, he was a setter and serving specialist.
