Women's Cross Country Competes at Wheaton Short Course Invitational to Open Season
Leopards post an eighth-place finish with Emma Schaumloffell leading the way in her collegiate debut
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The 2024 edition of the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's cross country team kicked off its season at the 10th Annual Wheaton College/Babson College Season Opener, held at Highland Park.
The Leopards placed eighth, with a team score of 244 in the 3K event.
In her first collegiate race, Emma Schaumloffel led the Leopards, placing 60th with a time of 13:45.55, which was good for 60th place (44 points). Summer Daniels was right behind her, finishing 61st (45 points) with a time of 13:50.78. Erin MacLean placed 72nd (50 points) with a time of 15:05.76. Finishing in 78th place (52 points) was rookie Abby Morency with a time of 16:00.55. Completing the competitors for the Black & Gold was Megan Leger, who picked up an 81st-place finish (53 points), finishing with a time of 17:50.54.
Wentworth competes next at the Pop Crowell Invitational on the campus of Gordon College on Saturday, September 21.
