Leopards Snap Losing Streak With 7-2 Win Over WNEC

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior forward Skylur Jameson (Long Beach, Calif.) scored three goals and became the 10th player in program history to eclipse 100 points in their career as the Wentworth hockey team handed Western New England its first loss with a 7-2 triumph in an ECAC Northeast game at Matthews Arena.  In addition to Jameson's hat trick, the Leopards got five assists from sophomore defenseman Shaun Jameson (Long Beach, Calif.) and four assists from senior defenseman Kyle Richardson (San Jose, Calif.).

The host Leopards, who snapped a two-game losing streak, jumped on the board first when sophomore Mike Marrocco (Braintree, Mass.) scored from freshmen Nick Chiapetta (Mississauga, Ont.) and Fred Gervasi (Mississauga, Ont.) at 8:31.  That lead held until there was 32 seconds left in the period when Golden Bear junior forward Mike Kaselouskas (East Longmeadow, Mass.) put home the rebound of his saved shot to even the score at 1-all.

Wentworth broke the game open with four goals in the second period as Skylur Jameson got things going, from Shuan Jameson and Richardson, just 33 seconds into the period.  Shaun Jameson helped the Black & Gold take a 3-1 lead when he assisted on junior forward Mike Paglino's (Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.) power-play goal at 5:35.  Just seven seconds later, freshman forward Patrick Rice (West Des Moines, Iowa) scored from Richardson and Shaun Jameson to make it a 4-1 game before Skylur Jameson netted his 100th career point with a power-play goal – from freshman defenseman Colten Derickson (Kennewick, Wash.) and Richardson – at 7:05.

Western New England made it a 5-2 game at the 12:40 mark of the middle stanza when senior forward Chris Beaudoin (Enfield, Conn.) scored on a lengthy pass from freshman forward Keith MacDonald (Chicopee, Mass.).

Skylur Jameson completed the hat trick when Richardson and Shaun Jameson set him up on the power play, 55 seconds into the third period before freshman forward Cory Lillie (East Hampton, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring with a goal which was assisted by freshman forward Cameron Gibson (Valencia, Calif.) and Shaun Jameson.

Making his first collegiate start, freshman Chris Azzano (Oshawa, Ont.) turned aside 18 shots to earn his first career win.  Freshman Eric Sorensen (Rochester, N.Y.) allowed four goals on 16 shots over the first 25:42, while sophomore T.J. Fatse (Hampden, Mass.) made 25 saves over the final 34:18.  Wentworth held a 48-20 shot advantage.

With the win, the Leopards improve to 2-3-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in ECAC Northeast play.  Wentworth hosts Wesleyan next Sunday (Nov. 28).  The Golden Bears slip to 3-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in league play and will travel to Manhattanville on Tuesday.
