Azzano Named ECAC Northeast Rookie of the Week

ECAC Northeast Release

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Rookie netminder Chris Azzano (Oshawa, Ont.) turned aside 34 of 35 shots in Wentworth's only game last week, a 1-1 draw against Wesleyan, and for his efforts he was named ECAC Northeast Rookie of the Week.

Azzano stopped all seven shots he faced in the first period and all 15 he faced in the second period before allowing a goal in the third period, a period in which he made nine saves.  He would stop all three shots he faced in overtime to keep the visiting cardinals from winning the game.  Of the three saves he made in overtime, two came while Wentworth was killing off a five-minute shorthanded situation.

Playing in three of Wentworth's seven games, Azzano is 1-1-1 with a 1.90 goals against average and a .932 save percentage for the 2-3-2 Leopards, who face Nichols in an ECAC Northeast contest on Wednesday.
