Johnson & Wales Rallies for 3-2 Win

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore defenseman Trevor Jewell's (Belgrade, Mont.) power-play goal with 1:07 remaining in regulation snapped a 2-2 tie and lifted the Johnson & Wales hockey team to a 3-2 win over Wentworth in an ECAC Northeast contest at Matthews Arena.  The Wildcats had trailed, 2-0, enteting the final stanza.

Wentworth got the only goals of the first and second period as junior forward Skylur Jameson (Long Beach, Calif.) gave the Leopards a 1-0 lead at 14:44 of the opening period, after he was set up by sophomore forward Anthony Principato (Holmdel, N.J.) and junior forward Casey Shade (Anchorage, Alaska).  Jameson would have a hand in his brother Shaun's goal at 1:22 of the second period, which was also assist by freshman forward Andrew Yarber (Livonia, Mich.).

After the Leopards had taken a pair of penalties in the last minute of the second period, the Wildcats began the third period with a two-man advantage and would take advantage of the extra skaters.  Junior forward Jeremiah Ketts (Foristell, Mo.) made it a 2-1 game when he scored from sophomore forward Jason Pietrasiak (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Jewell.  Ketts would strike with the game-tying marker 28 seconds later when he was set up by Jewell and sophomore defenseman Adam Bolotin (Vernon Hills, Ill.).

A physical third period that would eventually see a total of 52 minutes in penalties assessed would remain tied until the Leopards found themselves down two men again.  Nearing the end of the first penalty, Jewell put home the game winner.

Sophomore Matt Cooper (Perrysburg, Ohio) made 32 saves for Johnson & Wales, which improves to 10-9-1 overall and 6-2-0 in league play.  Wentworth freshman Chris Azzano (Oshawa, Ont.) made 28 saves for the Leopards, who fall to 8-8-4 (5-3-1).  Wentworth held a 34-31 shot advantage.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday with Wentworth traveling to Nichols and Johnson & Wales hosting Salve Regina.
