Sides Completes Second Season With Arizona Sundogs

BOSTON, Mass. – Former Leopard hockey standout Joey Sides (BCMT '09) recently completed his second season as a member of the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League, an affiliate of the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes, where he played in 64 of 66 games, tallying 26 goals and 34 assists for 60 points, which ranked him second on the team.  Half of his goals came by way of special teams, as he scored eight power play goals and added five shorthanded markers.

Sides' play this past season earned him a spot on the CHL All-Star Team, where he competed with other CHL players against the Rapid City Rush.  He recorded an assist in that contest, helping his team win by an 11-6 score.

In two seasons with the Sundogs the Sun Valley, Idaho, native has played in 123 regular-season games, scoring 98 points on 44 goals and 54 assists and this past season he played in all four

A four-year standout as both a forward and a defenseman for Wentworth from 2005-2009, Sides served as a three-year captain during his 90-game career; a career that saw him score 32 goals and assist on 53 others for 85 points.  Despite injuries limiting him to just 14 games as a freshman, he scored five goals and assisted on 11 others for 16 points and followed that up with a 22-point performance as a sophomore.  His junior season, in which he primarily played defense, he scored a pair of goals and added 16 assists for 18 points.  After returning to forward as a senior, he scored 17 goals and assisted on 12 others for 29 points in 23 games, which earned him Honorable Mention All-ECAC Northeast honors.  He presently ranks 14th on Wentworth's all-time scoring list as well as ranking 14th in career goals and helped the Leopards to ECAC Northeast title game appearances as a sophomore and again as a senior.
