A familiar face since he arrived on the Wentworth campus in 2002, Matt Moyen serves as the head coach of the men’s cross country team, which was elevated to varsity status in the fall of 2014.

In the program’s inaugural season, Moyen coached the team to a runner up finish at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship, an eighth-place (of 43 teams) finish at the ECAC Championship and a 17th-place finish (of 54 teams) at NCAA Regionals. During the regular season the team had five top three finishes including a victory at the Tri-State Invitational. Additionally, the team featured four All-CCC runners, three CCC rookies of the week, an ECAC rookie of the week and a CCC runner of the week.

Moyen is a native of Leominster, Mass. where he was a three sport athlete competing on the golf, track & field and baseball teams at Leominster High School.  During his time on the track & field team he competed in the 300m, 4 x 400m relay and was a key member of the school record holding 4 x 200m relay.

Upon arriving at Wentworth, his competition in track & field came to an end with Wentworth not sponsoring the sport. However, he went on to have a stellar baseball career for the Leopards as a two-time All-CCC honoree, was the 2006 CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipient and also ranks among the career leaders in many offensive categories.

Moyen graduated from Wentworth with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology in 2006 and served as an assistant baseball coach from 2006 until 2015.

Moyen, who was inducted into Wentworth’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012, has seen his passion for running resurface in recent years as he has competed in Tough Mudders and other obstacle course races designed to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie.
