Wentworth Finishes Ninth at ECAC Championships
Freshman Jose Armenteros cards a two-day total of 158 to finish tied for 16th overall, helping the Leopards shoot a 666
STOW, Mass. – Freshman Freshman Jose Armenteros (Santo Domimgo, Dominican Republic) shot a two-day total of 158 (81-77) to finish tied for 16th overall and help lead the Wentworth golf team to a ninth place finish at the 2010 ECAC New England Division III Championship. The Leopards shot a team total of 666 (331-335) over the two-day event, which was played at the Par 72, 6,797-yard North Course of the Stow Acres Golf Club.
The 666 shot by Wentworth was 48 shots behind champion Elms College, which shot a 618 and just five strokes behind eighth-place Mass. College's 661.
Armenteros was one of two Leopard players to record eagles in the tournament, with sophomore Eric Anderson (Abington, Mass.) recording the other. Anderson would shoot a 162 (82-80) to finish tied for 24th. Sophomore John Romanelli (Acushnet, Mass.) fired a 171 (85-86) to finish tied for 39th, while sophomore Bryan Cohen (Caracas, Venezuela) finished tied for 44th with a 175 (83-92). Sophomore Kyle Nadeau (Chicopee, Mass.) also competed for Wentworth, finishing 52nd in the 55-player field with a 187 (93-94).
Wentworth returns to action on Thursday against Nichols and Elms in a tri-match at Nichols College.
