PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Wentworth golf team opened the spring portion of its season by competing at the Rhode Island College Spring Invitational. The event was shortened from its original, two-day format to a single, 18-hole event played on Friday due to inclement weather.
In the 13-team field the Leopards finished eighth, carding a four-player score of 346, which was 29 strokes behind tournament champion Husson, but just 12 strokes out of third place. The Eagles finished with a 317, followed by host Rhode Island College's 318.
Junior Eric Anderson (Abington, Mass.) and freshman Robbie Wells Rogers (Colchester, Vt.) led the Leopards after each shot an 84, tying them for 20th in the 65-player field. Freshman Brandon Goold (Foxboro, Mass.) finished tied for 29th after carding an 88, while classmate Dante Christofori (Springfield, Mass.) rounded out Wentworth's top four scorers after shooting a 90, which tied him for 33rd.
The Leopards close out the 2011-12 campaign the weekend of April 13-14 when they compete in the Hampton Inn Invitational, hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
