BOSTON, Mass. – Wentworth Institute of Technology Head Men's Tennis Coach Eddie Davis today announced his resignation after 14 seasons at the helm. Davis, who also served as the Leopard women's tennis coach until the end of the 2012 season, and his family will be relocating to Maryland later this month. Director of Athletics Angel Ayres accepted Davis' resignation.
"For the past 14 years I have been blessed and honored to be associated with both the men's and women's tennis programs at Wentworth," said Davis. "Being a part of helping to shape the character and abilities of America's future leaders is humbling. I would like to thank the Leopard athletic staff and the entire Wentworth family for their assistance during my tenure."
In his 14 seasons as the men's coach, he guided the Black & Gold to nine appearances in the CCC Tournament and advanced to the semifinal round in 2006. During the 2005 and 2006 campaigns his squads posted a 16-10 record and this past season the Leopards finished 6-8 overall and were the number six seed in the CCC Tournament.
Davis coached numerous all-conference performers during his tenure, including a pair of major award winners on the men's side. In 2005 Ricardo Robiglio was named the CCC Rookie of the Year, while in 2011 Juan Rodriguez was named the conference's player of the year. This past season Caitlin Corcoran was named CCC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year.
"Coach Davis is one of our longest tenured coaches," said Ayres. "His positive spirit and outlook will be missed in our department. I would like to thank him for his dedication to Wentworth and would like to wish him well as he moves on to spend more time with his family and grandchildren."
