Skurja, Robbins Compete in Tufts Last Chance Meet

MEDFORD, Mass. – Seniors Jake Skurja (Stratford, Conn.) and Alex Robbins (Mansfield, Mass.) concluded the regular season for the Wentworth Institute of Technology indoor track team after competing at the Tufts University Last Chance Meet.

Skurja ran in a pair of events for the Black & Gold, racing in both the 60-meter and 400-meter dash. In the 60-meter dash he had a time of 7.21 seconds which placed him fifth in his heat and 11th in the 15-runner field after running his third-fastest time of the season. In the 400-meter dash he ran a time of 51.06 seconds which placed him fourth in his section and sixth in the 10-runner field.

Robbins competed in the 5,000-meter run, finishing fifth in the eight-runner field with a time of 15:17.89. That time was nearly as fast as his second-fastest time this season (15:17.17), which he set at the same track.

Selections for the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships will be announced on Monday (March 5). Senior Dan McSolla (Bridgewater, Mass.) is in the mix to qualify in the mile, an event he qualified for and earned All-America (eighth place) honors in last season.
