Women's Volleyball CCC Tournament Match Moved

BOSTON, Mass. – For the first time since the 2006 season, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team has earned a berth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament. The sixth-seeded Leopards (14-14, 3-5 CCC), who were originally scheduled to travel to third-seeded Salve Regina (15-12, 6-2) in the tournament's opening round on Tuesday night (Nov. 1), will now play at Salve Regina on Wednesday night. The start time remains at 7:00 p.m.

With its win over Curry in the regular-season finale, Wentworth tied the program record for wins in a season which was set in 2005 and has won two of its final three matches down the stretch.

The Leopards are paced by senior Julie Bruton (Montgomery, Texas), who has an attack percentage of .232 and is averaging 2.07 kills, 0.53 aces, 2.74 digs, and 0.53 blocks per set. Junior Julie Rahilly (Nashua, N.H.) is averaging 2.19 kills and 2.15 digs per set, while classmate Nicole Wetherbee (Pembroke, Mass.) averages 1.01 kills, 0.52 aces, and 2.04 digs per set.

Sophomore Michelle Hobbs (Northwood, N.H.) is averaging 1.79 kills and 1.99 digs per set, with freshman Shannon Ponce (San Jose, Calif.) is averaging 5.46 assists per set.

The two teams have met 10 times in the past with Salve Regina holding a 6-4 series advantage. The Seahawks have won the last six series meetings, including a 3-0 win on Oct. 18 in Newport. The winner of this match travels to second-seeded Endicott (13-14, 7-1) for Thursday's semifinal round.
