Principato Named ECAC Northeast Co-Player of the Week

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Sophomore forward Anthony Principato (Holmdel, N.J.) of the Wentworth hockey team has been named the ECAC Northeast Co-Player of the Week for the week ending January 30, 2010, after helping the Leopards to a 2-0 week.

In two games for Wentworth, Principato scored three goals and assisted on one other for a four-point week.  The Leopards defeated Salve Regina, 7-4, on Jan. 27 in a game that saw Principato score a goal and assist on another.  His goal at 7:35 of the third period gave Wentworth a 5-3 lead and held up as the game-winning goal.  That game was his first game back on the ice after an injury and the win was the Leopards' first win of 2011, snapping a five-game (0-3-2) winless streak.  The Leopards ran their win streak to two with a 6-2 win over Western New England this past Saturday (January 29) with Principato tallying a pair of goals.

Principato has played in 12 of the squad's 19 games, scoring nine goals and assisting on six others for 15 points.  Three of his nine goals have come on the power play.  In 30 career games wearing the Black & Gold, he has 23 goals and 17 assists for 40 points.

Wentworth, at 8-7-4 (5-2-1 ECAC Northeast), hosts Johnson & Wales on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
