Men's Indoor Track Debuting as a Club Sport in 2016

The Wentworth Institute of Technology Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the addition of men's indoor track as a club sport for the 2015-2016 academic year, with the hopes of the program being elevated to varsity status in the future.

Head coach Dan Roark, who was a former cross country and track standout at both Quinnipiac and St. Joseph's (Pa.) will serve as the program's head coach and Sarah Biggers, who qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships twice while at Stonehill College will serve as Roark's assistant.

During the inaugural season, Wentworth will only compete in distance events, however as the program grows, it is anticipated that the leopards will compete in sprinting events and then field events.

Roark has a roster this season of 11 student-athletes – all of whom were members of the 2015 Commonwealth Coast Conference champion Wentworth men's cross country team – and will compete in five events this year.

"This is an exciting time to begin an indoor track program at Wentworth," said Roark. "The success of our cross country team in its first two seasons has laid a foundation to be successful in indoor track. We are hoping to continue this success and look to keep moving forward in what will be a great opportunity for our student-athletes to grow as runners and learn to love the sport even more."
