Burdett Named NECVA New England Rookie of the Week

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Freshman Ross Burdett (Needham, Mass.) of the Wentworth men's volleyball team has been named the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association New England Division Rookie of the Week for games played February 7-13.

Burdett played in 12 of the team's 14 games in a 3-1 week for the Leopards and averaged 2.92 kills, 1.75 digs, and 3.17 points per game, while hitting .132 on the week.  In a 3-0 win at Regis, he played in just one game and made the most of it, recording five kills on six attempts for an amazing .833 hitting percentage.  This came on the heels of a nine-kill, three block performance in a 3-1 win over Emerson the night before.  In a tri-match at Southern Vermont, he recorded a total of 21 kills and 14 digs, including posting 13 in a 3-0 win over the host Mountaineers.

Having played in 60 of the Leopards' 64 games, he leads the team with 188 kills (3.13 per game) and points (303.0) while ranking third with 97 digs (1.62 average).  His .221 hitting percentage ranks him fourth on the squad.
