BOSTON, Mass. – College Sports Communicators (formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America) recently released its 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Teams. These teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Wentworth Institute of Technology had a pair of women's basketball student-athletes earn this honor in senior Abriana Busbey (Palmer, Alaska) and sophomore Gabby Amoddio (Wethersfield, Conn.). The duo mark the 36th and 37th Academic All-District selections for Wentworth since 1995.
An Architecture major, Busbey had a career year for the Leopards, averaging 8.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.3 assists per contest. She had a career high of 21 points in a win over Maine Fort Kent this season and also had career highs in assists (eight) and steals.
Amoddio, an Applied Mathematics major, averaged a career-best 9.3 points, to go along with 5.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Her scoring average was second on the team and she posted career highs in points (20), rebounds (14) and assists (7) this season.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March. In order to be eligible for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically, have a minimum of a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and be a starter or a significant reserve on their team.
