Rahilly, Hobbs Named to All-CCC Women's Volleyball Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Two members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team – senior outside hitter Julie Rahilly (Nashua, N.H.) and junior outside hitter Michelle Hobbs (Northwood, N.H.) – have been named to the 2012 Commonwealth Coast Conference Women's Volleyball All-Conference Team as honorable mention selections. The announcement was made by commissioner Gregg M. Kaye after a vote of the head coaches from the nine conference institutions which sponsor women's volleyball.

Rahilly played in 22 of the team's 23 matches and 83 of the team's 86 sets thus far and leads the team with 265 kills and is second attack percentage of .169, as well as ranking second on the team with 36 service aces and 231 digs. Her 265 kills this season are the third-highest in a single season in program history and recorded a career-high 26 kills in a 3-2 win over Daniel Webster and tied her career high with a .455 attack percentage in a 3-0 win over Mass. Maritime.

For her career she has played in 104 matches and 360 sets and stands second on Wentworth's all-time list with 2,734 attack attempts, third in both kills (793) and digs (908), fifth in service aces (157), and eighth in attack percentage (.086).

Hobbs has also played in 22 of a possible 23 matches and 83 of a possible 86 sets and has a team-high .179 attack percentage to go along with 233 kills, 32 service aces, and 220 digs. In three separate matches she recorded career highs of 19 kills, a .520 attack percentage, and 20 digs.

Through three seasons she has played in 76 matches and 269 sets and ranks fifth on Wentworth's all-time list with 1,785 attack attempts, and also ranks sixth with 536 kills, 11th with 574 digs, and 13th with 99 service aces.

Under the direction of first-year head coach Evin Giglio the Leopards are currently 8-15 overall and finished CCC play with a 2-6 record. Wentworth is the number six seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament and will travel to third-seeded Salve Regina for a first-round match on Wednesday night. This marks the second straight year the two teams have met in the opening round.
