Winter/Spring Academic All-Commonwealth Coast Conference Teams Announced

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has announced the Spring Academic All-Conference Team, and it includes 405 student-athletes from the conference’s 10-member institutions.  The Academic All-Conference honor rewards varsity student-athletes who attain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher and who have been a sophomore during their playing season.  The Spring Academic All-Conference Team encompasses student-athletes who participated in the sports of baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s golf, men’s and women’s lacrosse, softball, men’s and women’s swimming & diving (invitational sports), men’s tennis, and men’s and women’s track & field (invitational sports).

Of the honorees, 74 were first team, second team and third team All-CCC selections in their sport.

The Leopards placed 27 student-athletes on this team, which was an increase of seven from last year. Three of the 20 were named All-CCC in their respective sports with two of the three earning CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Also noteworthy is that the Athlete(s) of the Year and/or the Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the eight CCC winter and spring sports received Academic All-Conference laurels, including baseball Pitcher of the Year, Nick Quattro (Endicott), and Senior Scholar-Athletes of the Year, Matt Anziano (Western New England) and Wesley Arning (Gordon), men’s basketball Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, John-Michael Fragnoli (Wentworth), and Defensive Player of the Year, Hans Miersma (Gordon), women’s basketball Player of the Year, Kelly Coleman (University of New England), Defensive Player of the Year, Lauren Hayden (University of New England), and Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Kylie Beltz (Curry), men’s golf Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Jared Melman (University of New England), men’s lacrosse Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Mark Fesenmeyer (Roger Williams), women’s lacrosse Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Emily Castleman (Western New England), softball Pitcher of the Year, Lauren Zambrano (Western New England), and Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Sam Curran (Wentworth) and men’s tennis Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, PJ Nassar (Western New England).
