BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman pitcher Mike Callagee (Emerson, N.J.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for games played from April 18-24.
Callagee threw a complete game in a 4-1 win over first-place Western New England. He allowed one unearned run on four hits, walked a pair of batters, and struck out one. He held the Golden Bears scoreless over the final six and a third innings, allowing three hits during this span. The win snapped an eight-game losing streak for Wentworth against Western New England.
In six appearances for the Leopards this season (five starts), Callagee is 2-2. He has pitched a total of 28.2 innings and three of his five starts have been complete games.
Wentworth sits at 9-19 overall (3-9 CCC) and hosts Roger Williams tonight in a conference doubleheader.
