HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Leopards nearly tied the game in the waning seconds when junior Kevin Obssuth (Chester, N.J.) went in on a breakaway, however, Wilcox stopped him right before time expired. Wentworth had an 18-6 shot advantage in the first period, with 10 of those shots coming on three power plays.
  • At 8:23 of the second period, Suffolk upped its lead to 2-0 when senior Shawn Montgomery (Natick, Mass.) broke in alone and fired a shot on net, which was saved by sophomore Connor Carbo (Berlin, Vt.). The rebound popped out to senior Billy Roche (Braintree, Mass.) who found the back of the net.
  • The Rams put the game away in the third period, scoring three times in a span of 1:42 early in the period. At 2:52, sophomore Kyle Valiquette (Monroe, N.C.) scored from junior Alex Kolowrat (Praha, Czech Republic) before junior Griffin Clark (Charlotte, N.C.) made it 4-0 with an unassisted marker at 3:31. Suffolk completed the scoring with a power-play goal at 4:34 as junior Ryan Donnelly (Swampscott, Mass.) scored from Roche and Montgomery.
  • Wentworth had a 33-27 shot advantage with 16 of its 33 shots coming on seven power plays. Senior Joey O'Leary (Boston, Mass.) and Obssuth combined for 11 shots.
  • Junior Guillaume Bose (San Jose, Calif.) won 17 of 26 faceoffs.

SERIES NOTES:

  • Today marked the 40th all-time meeting between the two teams. While Suffolk is 3-1-1 in the last five series meetings, Wentworth holds a 23-14-3 overall advantage.
