Men's Tennis Kicks Off CCC Play With Sweep of Salve Regina

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With a sweep of the three doubles matches and without dropping a set in singles play, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team opened Commonwealth Coast Conference play with a 9-0 win over Salve Regina at MIT's duPont Courts.

Winners of two straight the Leopards improve to 2-1 (1-0) while the Seahawks fall to 1-3 (0-1).

Senior Thinh Dang (Boston, Mass.) and freshman Alex Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) picked up an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles over freshman Dante Petrosino (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) and sophomore Zach Monahan (Stoughton, Mass.). At No. 1, senior Matthew Smith (Pelham, N.H.) teamed with junior Jeff Tocco (Plymouth, Mass.) to take an 8-3 win over sophomore D.J. Bisaillon (Watertown, Conn.) and junior Kevin Brocks (Albany, N.Y.). Junior Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.) and senior Zach Peter (Preston, Conn.) completed the doubles sweep with a 9-7 win over junior Will Masse (Wyoming, R.I.) freshman Aaron White (Falmouth, Mass.) at No. 2.

Dang defeated Monahan, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5 singles before Tocco clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Brocks at No. 2.

At No. 1, Smith defeated Masse, 6-0, 6-2; Peter defeated White at No. 4, 6-1, 6-3; Mularski defeated Petrosino, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 6, and Ly bested Bisaillon, 7-6 (9-7), 12-10, at No. 3.

Wentworth is scheduled to host Eastern Nazarene on Saturday at Regis College.
