Academic All-District Honors Bestowed on Klembczyk

BOSTON, Mass. – The accolades continue to come in for Wentworth Institute of Technology senior men's volleyball student-athlete Peter Klembczyk (Penfield, N.Y.) as today he was named to the 2020-21 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA.

The 2020-21 Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.

A Computer Engineering major and the first Wentworth men's volleyball student-athlete to be honored, Klembczyk is Wentworth's second Academic All-District selection this year and the 30th since 1995. As an Academic All-District selection, Klembczyk will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot along with representatives from seven other districts. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on August 4.

Klembczyk helped the Leopards to an 8-3 record this past season which included earning the program's third NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Tournament berth and a final AVCA national ranking of No. 9. In 40 sets he averaged 3.12 digs per set which ranked him sixth among Division III student-athletes. In a 3-1 win over then No. 1 Springfield on April 10 he recorded 12 digs and became the program's all-time dig leader. Klembczyk was named a First Team AVCA All-American on the heels of being named to the AVCA's All-Region Team.

In addition to the honors bestowed upon him this season, Klembczyk was the 2018 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, a two-time All-GNAC selection, and earned AVCA All-Region honors in 2020. Three times he was named to the GNAC's All-Academic Team. Klembczyk played in 296 sets over the course of 88 matches and in addition to his program-leading 837 digs, he is also the program's leader in digs per set with 2.83.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
