Strong Showing by McSolla at NCAA National Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Dan McSolla (Bridgewater, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology cross country team completed his outstanding junior campaign by finishing 78th at the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.

McSolla covered the eight kilometer course in his second-fastest time of the season – 25:17.8. His fastest time of the season came a week ago when he qualified for the national championship with a time of 25:06.0. The 78th-place finish was among a 279-runner field and he was just 10 seconds off finishing in the top 50.

At the first checkpoint – the two kilometer mark – McSolla was in 52nd place with a time of 6:08.3 and he reached the second checkpoint – the 6.22 kilometer mark – 13:02 later. McSolla averaged 5:05.4 per mile (3:09.6 per kilometer).

North Central took home the team title for the 17th time as the Cardinals had a team score of 60. Wisconsin-Platteville's Ian LaMere repeated as the Division III individual champion as he bested the field with an impressive time of 23:40.4.
