Women's Lacrosse Closes out Season against Curry

BOSTON, Mass – Junior Chloe Chevrier (West Suffield, Conn.) scored seven goals and added an assist as the Curry College women's lacrosse team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 20-4, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Curry scored the first six goals of the game as sophomore Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.) scored three times and Chevrier added two. Wentworth got on the board with 48 seconds left in the quarter as senior Helen Hamblett (East Boothbay, Maine) scored from freshman Maggie McCann (North Grafton, Mass.).
  • The Colonels extended their lead to 11-1 with 6:11 left in the half before back-to-back goals from Hamblett and sophomore Shayleah Gunning-Lavoie (Laconia, N.H.) made it 11-3 with 3:09 left. Chevrier scored the final goal of the half, giving the visitors a 12-3 edge.
  • Hamblett scored on a free position shot with 4:24 left in the third quarter, sandwiched around a pair of Curry two-goal runs as the Colonels led, 16-4 after three quarters. Curry scored all four fourth quarter goals to round out the scoring.
  • In her final game in a Leopard uniform, Hamblett scored three goals, scooped up three ground balls, and won five draw controls. Sophomore Lily Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J.) made 10 saves in between the pipes.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Today was the 10th all-time meeting between the two teams.
