Women's Soccer Falls at Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I. – Junior Abby McMackin (Walpole, Mass.) had a pair of goals and added an assist to help pace the Salve Regina University women's soccer team to a 4-1 win over Wentworth Institute of technology in Commonwealth Coast Conference action.

With the win the Seahawks improve to 4-5-2 overall and 1-1-1 in CCC play while the Leopards slip to 3-6-1 (1-1-1).

McMakin scored twice in a span of 57 seconds to give the hosts a 2-0 lead. At 17:18 she scored off a feed from senior Courtney Bouchard (Middleton, Mass.) and, at 18:15, scored an unassisted marker.

Wentworth sliced the lead in half nearly nine minutes later on a goal from junior Grace McGrath (Warwick, R.I.). McGrath scored off of a corner kick from senior Emily Richard (Fremont, N.H.).

Senior Lea Adams (Sandwich, Mass.) gave the hosts a two-goal advantage when she scored from the top of the box at the 29:06 mark.

McMackin helped round out the scoring with 2:58 remining as she assisted on a Bouchard goal.

Junior Carly Pala (Milford, Conn.) picked up the win, making 10 saves. Junior Christie Fleming (Braintree, Mass.) made seven stops in the first half while classmate Micaela Robinson (Goshen, N.Y.) had a pair of second-half saves. Salve Regina had a 21-14 shot advantage and an 11-4 edge on corner kicks.

Wentworth is at UMass Boston on Wednesday.
