MARCY, N.Y. – The No. 10 Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team is heading home to Boston after winning two final matches at the SUNY Poly Wildcat Invitational. The Leopards handed No. 4 Vassar a 3-2 upset, and earned their first sweep of the season against the host Wildcats (26-24, 25-20, 25-21) to come out of the tournament with a 3-1 record.

MATCH ONE: Wentworth 3, Vassar 2

Down 0-2 against the No. 4 picked Brewers, the Leopards ripped off the final three sets for their first win against a ranked opponent this season.

Senior Jon Roat (Rochester, N.Y.) led the Leopard attack with 16 kills and a .357 swinging percentage. Senior Collin Ritter (Feeding Hills, Mass.) hit .550 and contributed 13 kills while dishing out 27 assists.

Wentworth held off the Brewers with a strong defensive performance, as three Leopards registered ten digs or more. Senior Kevin McPeek (Bethlehem, Pa.) led the charge with 12 digs, while Ritter capped a triple-double performance with 10 digs of his own. Senior Ryan Engel (Floral Park, N.Y.) hit the floor for ten digs as well.

MATCH TWO: Wentworth 3, SUNY Poly 0

Despite the Wildcats rushing to a 4-0 lead after the opening whistle, the Leopards lengthened the first set after senior Jon Roat (Rochester, N.Y.) jumped up for a kill to tie it 24-24. An attack error from SUNY Poly gave the visitors match point, as senior Ollie Oshman (Pennington, N.J.) jumped up for the 26-24 set victory en route to the 3-0 match sweep.

Roat led the Leopards to their first clean sheet with 10 kills and four blocks for 13 overall points. Senior Ryan Engel (Floral Park, N.Y.) and Oshman each swung into seven kills apiece, while Oshman continued a solid defensive performance with eight blocks. Senior Collin Ritter (Feeding Hills, Mass.) handed out 21 assists, followed by sophomore teammate Augusto Rodriguez-Guerrios (Guaynabo, P.R.), who added eight helpers in the victory.
