Ritter Named AVCA First Team All-American

BOSTON, Mass. – For the second straight season and second time in program history, the Wentworth men's volleyball team was represented on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III All-America First Team, as announced by the organization on Monday afternoon.

Senior setter Collin Ritter (Feeding Hills, Mass.) takes home First Team All-America honors after being named a Second Team All-American last season. The senior setter, also the repeat Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Offensive Player of the Year, earned the accolade after a First Team All-GNAC selection, and becomes the sixth men's volleyball player in program history to take home an All-America honor, and 10th overall throughout the Wentworth athletic program.

Ritter was a large component to the Leopards' 22-11 season, their sixth straight year of at least 20 wins, as he led the squad in kills per set (2.85) and assists per set (5.41). He led his team and ranked second among GNAC players in total kills with 291 this season, more than his three previous years combined.

A versatile and crucial player on any side of the court, Ritter also averaged 1.79 digs per set, and registered a triple double (kills-assists-digs) in six matches this season. Additionally, Ritter became the all-time assists leader on March 27, and finished his career with 3,563 total helpers.

Ritter is the lone representative on the First Team from the GNAC, and joins just one other New England honoree, Sergio Figueroa Velez from Springfield College. Leading the way in this year's class is the Stevens Institute of Technology, who places a combined team-leading five players on the two All-America teams.

The All-America awards will be presented at the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship banquet on April 26 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
