Endicott Cruises Past Women's Basketball

BEVERLY, Mass. – Led by senior Gabriella Coppola's (Watertown, Mass.) 19 points and 11 rebounds, the Endicott women's basketball team had five players score in double figures as the Gulls cruised to a 95-56 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in Commonwealth Coat Conference action Saturday afternoon.

With the win Endicott improves to 14-9 overall and 12-4 in CCC play while the Leopards fall to 2-21 (1-15).

The Gulls scored the first six points of the game before a freshman Stephanie Mini (Topsfield, Mass.) jumper put Wentworth on the board. Endicott scored the next seven points, taking a 13-2 lead after a 13-2 lead on a sophomore Mikaela Rogers (Haverhill, Mass.) jumper with 4:00 left. The hosts extended their lead to 19-5 after a layup from sophomore Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) and led, 21-11, after the first quarter.

Outscoring the Leopards by a 28-17 margin in the second quarter, the Gulls held Wentworth without a point for the first 2:35 of the frame, however, a 6-1 spurt pulled the visitors within 14 after a basket from Mini. Endicott led by as many as 23 after Coppola hit a three and led, 49-28, at the break.

Wentworth outscored the hosts, 19-17, in the third quarter, thanks in part to six points from freshman Erin Morton (Norway, Maine) and five apiece from Mini and senior Courtney McCormick (Hanson, Mass.). However, Endicott used a 29-9 fourth quarter to build on its lead.

Pratt finished with 18 points while senior Sam Charette (Wenham, Mass.) had 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Sophomore Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and also blocked five shots. Rogers rounded out double-figure scorers for the Gulls with 11 points.

Mini finished with a team-high 12 points for Wentworth while McCormick added 10.

Wentworth hosts Western New England on Tuesday in its final home game of the season.
