Women's Tennis Concludes Conference Play

WENHAM, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's tennis team concluded Commonwealth Coast Conference play on Saturday as the Leopards were defeated by Gordon, 9-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Doubles play saw sophomore Anna Mullane (North Chelmsford, Mass.) and junior Abigail Graves (Whitinsville, Mass.) team at No. 3 to defeat juniors CiCi Deakin (Standish, Maine) and Hannah Erickson (Columbia, Conn.). Sophomore Jordyn Maddex (Andover, Kan.) and senior Emily Ontiveros (Slymar, Calif.) picked up an 8-2 win over junior Olivia DeLuca (Dunstable, Mass.) and senior Sam McGibbon (Pembroke, Mass.) at No. 2. At No. 1, senior Anne Carsey (Flagstaff, Ariz.) and sophomore Madison West (Southampton, N.Y.) defeated junior Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) and freshman Morgan Collins (Warwick, R.I.), 8-3
  • Graves defeated Deakin, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles to make it 4-0 in favor of the Fighting Scots before Maddex clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over McGibbon at No. 3.
  • Mullane defeated Erickson, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5, West was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over DeLuca at No. 2, Carsey defeated Sollecito, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1, and Ontiveros completed the sweep with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Collins at No. 4. 

NEXT UP:

  • Wentworth (3-8, 1-6 CCC) concludes the fall portion of its schedule on Wednesday (October 9) against Lesley at 3:30 p.m. That match will take place at Harvard University.
