Six Men's Lacrosse Players Named All-CCC

BOSTON, Mass. – Six members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team have been named All-Commonwealth Coast Conference, as announced by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. The all-conference teams and major conference award winners were announced after a vote of the conference's nine head men's lacrosse coaches.

Sophomore attackman Ryan Coakley (Flemington, N.J.), sophomore midfielder Michael Cushera (Waltham, Mass.), and junior goalie Jared Proulx (Nashua, N.H.) were named Second Team All-CCC while senior defender Tyler Forthofer (Glastonbury, Conn.), senior midfielder Sean Paradis (Pelham, N.H.), and freshman face-off specialist Tim Parlato (Needham, Mass.) were selected honorable mention all-conference.

Coakley, a transfer from Washington (Md.) College, has had an immediate impact on the Leopards as he has scored 25 goals and has a single-season program record 40 assists for 65 points, which is the second-highest point total in a season in the program's 17-year history. He had career highs of five goals and eight points in a win over Emerson and added a career-high six assists in a win over Wheaton. In just 16 games with the Black & Gold he already ranks seventh all-time in assists and 17th in points.

After scoring just 12 points as a freshman, Cushera has 41 this season, coming on 25 goals and 16 assists. Six of his goals have come while the Leopards have been in a man-up situation and he has a pair of game-winning goals. His four assists and six points in a win over Emerson were career highs, as were his three goals in a win over Thomas. In 29 career games, he has 31 goals (eight man-up) and 22 assists for 53 points, which ranks him 25th on the Leopards' all-time scoring list.

Proulx has had an outstanding season between the pipes for the Leopards as he has a 7.79 goals against average and a .637 save percentage. He turned back a career-high 30 shots in a double overtime loss at Salve Regina and picked up a career-high nine ground balls in a win over MIT. His 211 saves this season are the fourth-most in a single season in program history and he has the second-lowest goals against average for a single season as well. In 40 career games, Proulx is 12-18 with a 9.16 goals against average and a .612 save percentage.  He ranks third in program history in goals against average, fourth in wins, and fourth in saves.

Forthofer has been a mainstay on defense, not only this season but throughout his career. This season, while playing in 13 of the team's 16 games, he has picked up 30 ground balls and has caused eight turnovers, while helping the Leopards allow a stingy 7.50 goals per game. In 43 career games, he ranks 14th in program history with 108 ground balls and had caused 26 turnovers, with 11 of those coming during his junior season. He has also contributed offensively as he has five career points coming on a pair of goals and three assists.

Paradis was recognized for his work as a short stick specialist. In 16 games for Wentworth he has three goals and two assists (five points) to go along with 45 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. He is second among his teammates in ground balls and third in caused turnovers. He picked up a career-high six ground balls in a win over Mass. Maritime and matched that total two days later. In his 45-game career, he has scored 12 points, coming on 10 goals and two assists, picked up 75 ground balls, and caused 18 turnovers. Paradis ranks 25th on Wentworth's career ground ball leader list.

The Leopards' primary face-off man, Parlato has won nearly 45 percent of his face-offs thus far (125-for-280), which is the sixth highest percentage in a single season. He won 17-of-21 in a win over UMass Boston, 14-of-23 in a win over Curry, and 12-of-19 in a win over Wheaton. Parlato set a program record with 114 ground balls picked up and he has caused a team-high 16 turnovers in 16 games. He also has five goals and five assists for 10 points.

Setting the program record for wins in a season, the Leopards sit at 10-6 after falling in the first round of the CCC Tournament, 9-8 in overtime, at Roger Williams. Four of Wentworth's six losses have come by a single goal, including two in overtime. The Leopards await a possible ECAC Tournament bid, which would announced on Monday, May 6.
