Men's Soccer Ends Season With 1-1 Tie

BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Jordan Daniel's (Canton, Conn.) goal in the 13th minute of play tied the game at 1-all and neither team would be able to break the stalemate as Endicott and Wentworth played to a 1-1 draw in Commonwealth Coast Conference on Sweeney Field.

Wentworth took a 1-0 lead at the 11:40 mark when senior Matt Racca (Wakefield, Mass.) threaded a pass to classmate Jake Buzzell (Haverhill, Mass.), who buried a shot to the right side. The would be short-lived, however, as freshman Kyle Bisceglia (New Boston, N.H.) delivered in the direction of Daniel, who flicked the ball inside the right post at 12:57.

The remainder of the half was back and forth, with both teams having chances to score, but neither would take the lead before the break. The Gulls outshot the hosts by an 11-7 margin after the first 45:00 of action.

An evenly played second half saw chances for both teams, with Wentworth missing a golden opportunity after hitting the crossbar in the 72nd minute. Endicott had a chance minutes after that on an open net, but was unable to get a shot off.

Leopard senior keeper John Longo (Needham, Mass.) made a diving stop off a header in the 92nd minute and his counterpart, senior Daniel Higgins (South Kingstown, R.I.) made a similar play nearly three minutes later. Both teams had two shots in the first overtime.

Endicott outshot Wentworth, 2-1, in the second overtime, with Daniel pushing a shot just right in the 102nd minute of play.

Longo made nine saves – eight in regulation – for the Leopards, while Higgins turned aside seven shots. Endicott held a 21-16 shot advantage and a 10-3 corner kick advantage.

The Gulls stand at 9-6-4 overall and finish CCC play with a 4-2-3 record. Endicott will host a CCC Quarterfinal on Saturday. Wentworth concludes its season at 1-11-4 (1-5-3).
