Newton, Huang Collect CCC Weekly Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. – A pair of rookies earned recognition from the Commonwealth Coast Conference league office Tuesday morning as freshman Jack Newton (Gloucester, Mass.) and freshman Evan Huang (Braintree, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's outdoor track and field team both earned weekly awards for their respective performances at the Jonathan Tymann Invitational. Newton was named CCC Track Rookie of the Week while Huang was named CCC Field Rookie of the Week. The awards are for meets ran across April 1-7.

Newton marked his name in the Black & Gold's record books twice, setting program records in the 400M hurdles and the 3000M Steeplechase. The rookie finished second (1:01.02) in the 400M hurdles before finishing third (10:10.09) in the 3000M Steeplechase.

Huang posted an impressive finish in his lone event, finishing fourth in the long jump with a 5.73M mark. His leap was the highest among CCC competitors.

The Leopards compete next at the Silfen Invitational, taking place at Connecticut College on April 12-13.
