Men's Volleyball Downs Lesley, 3-0

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Sean Donahue (Lincoln, R.I.) had six kills on six swings to pace a balanced attack as the Wentworth men's volleyball team cruised to its fourth straight win, a 3-0 triumph over Lesley in non-league action at Tansey Gymnasium.

The Leopards hit .409 in the opening frame as they took a 25-8 decision. Donahue and junior Brian Mann (East Freetown, Mass.) each had three kills as Wentworth jumped out to a 7-1 lead to start the game and never looked back.

Using momentum from the first game, the Black & Gold raced out to leads of 10-2 and 15-4 before taking a 25-11 win. Donahue and freshman Elijah Egalite (Bayonne, N.J.)  combined for six of Wentworth's nine kills in the second game, a game that saw the Leopards hit 81 percent.

Lesley took advantage of several Wentworth miscues in the third game, a game that would see five ties and pair of lead changes. However, the Leopards pulled ahead in the end with an 8-4 spurt and completed the sweep with a 25-13 win.

Mann finished with five kills on six swings, while Egalite added five kills, an ace, and three digs. Junior Mike Buonincontra (Shelton, Conn.) had four aces, freshman Zach Newhouse (Lancaster, Calif.) had eight digs, and senior Tyler Moriarty (Wilbraham, Mass.) and freshman Bill Shimkus (Sudbury, Mass.) each had a dozen assists.

The Lynx were led by sophomore Herbin Berreondo (Brighton, Mass.) and freshman Tyler Zielinski (Belleville, N.J.), who had two kills apiece and senior Sean Randall (Fremont, Calif.), who had nine digs.

With the win Wentworth improves to 4-1 and is at Endicott on Thursday. Lesley falls to 0-3 and hosts Mount Ida on February 4.
