WENTWORTH STAT LEADERS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After dropping the first point, the Leopards took the next three to take an early lead. Regis tied the set at three, but one of sophomore Jacob LaBouliere's (Pipersville, Pa.) five kills were part of three more Wentworth points to put the home team up 6-3. The Pride pulled within a point shortly after, but two more kills by LaBouliere and one by junior Hunter Oshman (Pennington, N.J.), who led the team with eight on the night, helped the Leopards take four of the next five points for an 11-7 advantage. Still, Regis climbed back to within two, but the Leopards were able to create separation midway through the set. Two kills by Oshman, as well as one from both LaBouliere and junior Alex McLane (Columbus, Ohio), who had seven finishers during the match, were part of a 6-1 run to put the set out of reach. One more kill by McLane finished it off as Wentworth took a 25-16 victory in set one.
  • The Leopards opened up the second set with kills by McLane, Oshman, and junior Colin Stockton (Hummelstown, Pa.) as the teams played to a 3-3 tie early on. After falling behind 6-5, Wentworth won seven of the following eight points, led by two kills from graduate David Marsh (Springfield, Mass.) and a service ace from senior Connor Adams (Budd Lake, N.J.) to take a 12-7 lead. Then leading 14-9, Oshman ran off four straight aces to give Wentworth a 19-8 lead. Two kills by senior Drew Potter (Towson, Md.) were part of another 7-1 run to finish the set and put the Leopards up 2-0 in the match.
  • Wentworth jumped out to a commanding lead in the third, winning the first eight points of the set and 10 of the first 11. Adams picked up a trio of service aces during the stretch, and Potter and sophomore Jacob Waga (East Northport, N.Y.) had a kill each. Waga later added another kill and three consecutive aces to put Wentworth ahead 15-4, and two more kills by Potter were part of the Leopards winning seven of eight points to go ahead 23-6. Wentworth picked up the remaining two points shortly after, winning the set 25-12 and completing a three-set sweep in the match.
  • Giglio reaches the 200-win mark in his 11th season as head coach, and has a record of 200-90 during his tenure. The winningest coach in program history, he is the 16th active coach across all collegiate divisions with 200 victories and is in the top 15 among active coaches in winning percentage across all three divisions.
  • Giglio spent eight seasons as the head coach of Wentworth's women's volleyball team as well and has a combined record of 343-172 (.666) between both programs.
  • Tonight's victory marks the first 5-0 start for men's volleyball since the 2017 season.
