Cross Country Runs to Second-Place Finish at Saints Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – Led by junior Dan McSolla's (Bridgewater, Mass.) fifth consecutive top three finish this season, the Wentworth Institute of Technology cross country team finished second at the Saints Invitational Friday afternoon at Franklin Park.

The Leopards, who raced to their fourth second-place finish of the season, scored 71 points which was three points better than third-place Colby-Sawyer (74) and 22 points behind Norwich, which took home the team title with 49 points. Twenty-three teams competed in the race.

McSolla finished third among the 192-runner field, covering the eight-kilometer course in 26:06 which was 14 seconds behind Plymouth State's Warren Bartlett, who took the event in a time of 25:52.

Junior Patrick Hopkins (Lansdale, Pa.) finished ninth with a time of 26:33. Classmate Alex Robbins (Mansfield, Mass.) was the next Wentworth runner to finish as he crossed the line in a time of 26:45, which was good for 13th place. Senior David Ouellette (Wells, Maine) was 19th (27:24) while sophomore Josh Gangemi (Norton, Mass.) was 27th with a time of 27:50.

Sophomore Jonah Eisman (New York, N.Y.) placed 44th as he crossed the line in a time of 28:33. Sophomore Nathan Ouellette (Wells, Maine) was 87th (30:01) and classmate Chris Kaberle (Pelham, N.H.) was 156th with a time of 35:42.

Wentworth looks to defend its Commonwealth Coast Conference crown on Oct. 29 when the Leopards race at the CCC Championship at Western New England University.
