BOSTON, Mass. – Two members of the 2009 Wentworth women's soccer team – freshmen Deborah Lesky (Newton, Mass.) and Elizabeth Somma (Windham, Maine) – have both been named to the 2009 Division III New Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association's All-New England Team, as voted on by Division III women's soccer coaches in New England.

Lesky was named to the second team at the position of fullback after starting all 19 games she played in during her rookie campaign.  In those 18 games she tallied a goal and three assists for a five-point season and was one of the team's top defensive players.  The Leopards held their opponents to one or fewer goals in 11 games.  Lesky's five points all came in Leopard victories.  She had an assist in a 2-0 win over Emerson on Sept. 8, scored a goal in a 4-1 win at Nichols on Sept. 21, added an assist in a 4-0 win over Regis on Oct. 24, and assisted on a goal in a 3-1 win over Curry on Oct. Oct. 28, a win that propelled Wentworth into The Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament.

Somma earned third team honors at the position of halfback after starting all 20 games for Wentworth.  One of the most consistent players for the Leopards, she scored six goals for 12 points, both of which were second on the team.  She recorded a goal in a 1-0, overtime loss to Roger Williams on Sept. 12, had a hat trick in a 4-1 win at Nichols on Sept. 21, and scored single goals in wins at Anna Maria (Oct. 7) and at Colby-Sawyer (Oct. 19).  One of her goals against Nichols and her goal against Anna Maria stood as game-winning tallies.

Under 12th-year head coach Angel Ayres, Wentworth begin the season with a 2-8 record, but closed out the regular season with a 6-2 mark, including winning six of its final seven regular-season games to earn the number seven seed in TCCC Tournament with a 7-6 record.  The Leopards upset second-seeded University of New England, 2-1, in the semifinal round, before falling to Western New England, 2-0, in the semifinal round to finish 9-11.
