Jameson Helps Hockey Team Skate Past Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Skylur Jameson (Long Beach, Calif.) recorded a natural hat trick Saturday evening to lead Wentworth Institute of Technology to a 5-2 victory over Plymouth State University in non-conference men's ice hockey action at Hanaway Rink.

Jameson tallied his first goal a minute into the second period to tie the game at 1-1, and scored again on the power play with less than one second left in the middle frame to make it 2-1. He completed his hat trick with another power play marker seven minutes into the third period.

Wentworth has won five of its last six games to improve to 8-4-1 overall, while PSU dropped to 8-3 on the season. The two teams, who will play again on Sunday at 2:00 p.m., recorded a pair of 2-2 ties in last year's weekend series in Boston.

Sophomore Travis Stevens (Montclair, Calif.) scored both goals for PSU, doubling his season goal total.
PSU had the advantage in a scoreless first period, out-shooting the visitors 10-5. Stevens gave the Panthers the lead 33 seconds into the second frame, deflecting a shot by junior Kyle Weiland (Hamden, Maine) past the goalie. The margin was short-lived as Jameson scored the first Wentworth goal just 33 seconds later.
The Leopards took the lead for good in the closing seconds of the second period. Freshman Mike Domsodi (Kirkland, Que.) rang a shot off the goal post but Jameson put the rebound in the back of the net a split second before the end of the period.

The two teams combined for three goals in a 24-second span in the middle of the third period. Jameson redirected a shot from the point into the goal at 6:54 for the eventual game-winner; sophomore Andrew Yarber (Livonia, Mich.) snapped a shot from the left circle just 13 seconds later that made it 4-1; and Stevens answered for PSU at 7:18 with his second of the game. Junior Craig Cardone (Westford, Mass.) rounded out the scoring with an empty-net goal in the final minute.

Freshman goalie Alex Peck (Kirkland, Que.) recorded the victory in the Leopards goal, making 21 saves. Junior Jack Astedt (Angelholm, Sweden) suffered the loss at the other end, stopping 27 shots as Wentworth finished with a 32-23 shot advantage.
