BEVERLY, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team dropped a 12-9 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) decision to Endicott College on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium.

The Leopards, who led the Gulls 7-5 going into halftime, drop to 6-3 this season and 1-2 in the CCC, while the Gulls improve to 2-6 and remain perfect against league opponents at 2-0.

A hot start from the Leopards gave the visitors a 5-4 lead after the first quarter, led by two goals from Coakley – including one on the man-up advantage. Coakley netted his second man-up goal with 5:28 left in the half on a dish from sophomore Dolan McCarthy (Hyde Park, Mass.), carrying Wentworth to a 7-5 lead into the break.

The Endicott defense kept Wentworth at bay for the remainder of the contest, allowing just two goals in second-half action. McCarthy broke a 7-7 tie with a goal from freshman Jack O'Neill (Groton, Mass.), but the Gulls closed the third quarter with back-to-back goals to take the lead for good. Coakley would score Wentworth's final goal of the game – another man-up goal with 11:32 to play, before Endicott went on the offensive with three straight goals for the 12-9 victory.

Coakley led all players with four goals and one assist, while Doner rounded out double-digit offense with two goals. McCarthy, O'Neill, and junior Jacob Eldred (Goffstown, N.H.) all finished with one goal apiece.

Senior Adam Dufault (Lexington, Mass.) collected nine saves in the cage for Wentworth, while Patrick Dean (Westhampton, N.Y.) stopped seven shots in the win for Endicott.

Wentworth returns to conference action on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. tilt at Western New England.
