Suffolk Doubles up Wentworth, 6-3

BOSTON, Mass. – The Suffolk University Men's Tennis team improved to 2-0 to start the 2010 season defeating Wentworth Institute of Technology, 6-3 on Thursday evening.  The loss, Wentworth's first of 2010, saw the Leopards fall to 3-1.

 

Sophomore Chris Staley pushed his overall record to 4-0 winning in both singles and doubles play. Staley was victorious, 6-1, 6-2 in the second spot in singles play over the Leopards' Dan Alexander and partnered with junior John Samander for a 9-7 win in the second doubles position for the Rams.

 

Samander was also a winner in the sixth singles position for Suffolk as he was a 6-0,6-0 victor out of the sixth singles position.

 

Senior Jared Orkin also picked up two victories winning in singles play 6-1, 6-3 in the three position for the Rams, and then earning a doubles win along with junior Justin Ayoub, 8-5 in the third doubles post.

 

Freshman Harlan Strader earned the Rams other point on the evening as he was a winner in the four position in singles play, 6-3, 6-3 over the Leopards' Nate Gove.

 

Claiming points for Wentworth were Dan Alexander and Juan Rodriguez at number one doubles, Rodriguez at number one singles, and Nate Gove at number five singles.
