Wentworth Ends Regular Season on High Note

PAXTON, Mass. – Winning two of three doubles matches and sweeping six singles matches, The Wentworth men's tennis team closed out the regular season with an 8-1 win over Anna Maria.

 

The Leopards took a 2-1 lead after doubles play as Juan Rodriguez (Quito, Ecuador) teamed with Dan Alexander (Merrimac, Mass.) for an 8-2 win at number one doubles and Ross Lyons (Madison, Conn.) teamed with Joe Centola (Hopkinton, Mass.) to win at number two doubles.

 

Rodriguez and Alexander won at number one and two singles, respectively, dropping just one game between the two, with Lyons and Centola winning at number three and four singles, respectively.  Nathan Dube (Wakefield, R.I.) won at number five singles, while Matt Levine (Brockton, Mass.) won at number six singles to complete the sweep.

 

Wentworth, 6-7 overall and 6-5 in TCCC play, will be seeded seventh in TCCC Tournament and will travel to second-seeded Nichols for an opening round match.
