HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Roger Williams scored in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead. An inning later, Roger Williams used a pair of RBI singles to score three runs and added a fourth on a double steal. The home half of the inning saw Wentworth get on the board as graduate student Nolan McManus (Milton, Mass.) led off the inning getting hit by a pitch, went to second on a junior Christian Peruzzi (Plymouth, Mass.) groundout and scored when senior Aaron Lundgren (Portsmouth, N.H.) reached on an error.
  • The Hawks scored twice in the fourth on a pair of RBI singles to lead, 7-1, before freshman Matthew Favazzo (Lexington, Mass.) singled in Peruzzi, who led off the inning with a double.
  • Scoring eight runs over the next two innings, Roger Williams extended its lead to 15-2, however, the Leopards mounted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh, scoring eight runs. Freshman Mike Siebert (Billerica, Mass.) led off with a walk and went to third on a freshman Nick Cullinan (Sandy Hook, Conn.) single. Freshman Matt Robinson (Mystic, Conn.) reached on a fielder's choice, which plated Sibert. Robinson advanced to second on a wild pitch and stole third, while McManus walked. On a double steal play, Robinson came home to score while McManus swiped second. With the bases loaded, junior Zach Smith (Madison, N.H.) was hit by a pitch to bring in Peruzzi, while Sibert hit a two-run double and Cullinan followed with a two-run single, cutting the lead to 15-10.
  • Cullinan finished 3-for-6 with a pair of RBI, while Sibert and Peruzzi each had two hits. Siebert also drew a pair of walks. Senior Jon Campbell (Snohomish, Wash.) was saddled with the loss (0-4). HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth got on the board in the bottom of the second when senior Chris Alcantara (Weymouth, Mass.) hit his first collegiate home run to make it 5-1. An inning later the Leopards made it 5-2 as Cullinan led off with a single and went to third on a Peruzzi double. McManus was hit by a pitch to load the bases and junior A.T.
