McSolla's Personal Best in Mile Paces Indoor Track at BU Valentine Invitational

EVERETT, Mass. – Junior Dan McSolla (Bridgewater, Mass.) set a new personal best in the mile to highlight the Wentworth Institute of Technology indoor track team's participation in the 2017 Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational.

McSolla ran a time of 4:11.31 to place first in his section and his time was the 36th fastest out of 307 runners (watch McSolla's section here)

In the triple jump, freshman Gamael Eugene (Clinton, Mass.) finished seventh in his section with a jump of 12.29 meters. This placed him 26th overall.

Sophomore Sam Gerken (Yarmouth, Maine) ran in the 800-meter run, finishing with a time of 2:00.30, which placed him fifth in his section and 167th overall.

In the 500-meter dash, sophomore Chris Kaberle (Pelham, N.H.) was sixth in his section with a time of 1:12.09 which placed him 59th overall.

Freshman Luke Trickey (Westbrook, Maine) was third in his section in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in a time of 23.98. This time placed him 197th.

Freshman Tom Casruso (Mahpoac, N.Y.) and sophomore Nathan Ouellette (Wells, Maine) ran in the 1,000-meter race and both competed in the same section. Caruso was 10th with a time of 2:46.41 and Ouellette was 13th with a time of 3:01.05. Their times placed them 86th and 89th, respectively.

In addition to McSolla, five other Leopards ran the mile. Junior Patrick Hopkins (Lansdale, Pa.) was second in his section with a time of 4:20.29 and sophomore Josh Gangemi (Norton, Mass.) was third in his section (4:32.43). Senior David Ouellette (Wells, Maine), junior Zach Howey (Sherwood, Ark.), and junior Clay Harman (Broad Brook, Conn.) all ran in the same section. Ouellette finished third (4:53.91), Howey was sixth (4:59.18), and Harman was 13th (5:20.36). Overall, Hopkins finished 113th, Gangemi 223rd, Ouellette 289th, Howey 295th, and Harman 306th.

Gerken, Trickey, Hopkins, and McSolla all ran the 4x400 meter relay, finishing fifth in their section with a time of 3:31.17. This placed them 46th overall.
