WENHAM, Mass. – The visiting Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology received complete-game pitching performances from senior righthanders Chris Sandini and Chris Carbone, sweeping Gordon 6-3 and 7-2 in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheader.

The Leopards jumped up early on Gordon in game one as Matt Jordan doubled to lead off the game and Pete Oggeri and Mike Diodato both had hits in the first inning.  After Gordon answered back with a long homerun from Eric Wolak, Connor Flisnik's bloop single brought in two more runs to make the score 4-1 Wentworth.

Wentworth tacked on two more runs in the top of the 3rd, and although they never scored again, Sandini made the lead stand up.  Gordon threatened in the fourth inning as they loaded the bases with only one out, but Sandini struck out Aaron Whittet and induced a long fly out to right field from Andrew Zgrablich.  The Scots scored single runs in the fifth and seventh innings on an RBI groundout from JT Waldie and a sac fly from Waldie in the seventh.

Sandini (1-3) scattered six hits and fanned 6 batters, while his counterpart freshman John Kanas (1-3) settled in after a rocky beginning and went 6 innings allowing six runs and striking out five.

In game two, Gordon had a chance to jump out early but with two runners on in the first Steve Myhren's shot to third base was turned into a double play.  Wentworth took the lead in the second inning when Dioadato came around to score on a single from Ryan Delgado.  The Leopards broke the game open in the 4th inning, taking advantage of a walk and an error by Gordon, as they hit five singles and struck for five runs to take a 6-0 advantage.

Chris Carbone (2-2) kept Gordon off the board until the sixth inning when Wolak and Kefalas both reached safely and came around to score on an opposite field double from JT Waldie.  Gordon loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning, but Carbone struck out Wolak and Kefalas ended the game by grounding to shortstop. Sophomore pitcher Zack Bohling threw four innings of one-run relief for Gordon as he came in for Ben Davidson in the fourth inning.

Wentworth moves to 16-6 overall and extends their current winning streak to six games.  The Leopards are 9-3 in TCCC play.  Gordon drops to 6-11 overall and is now 1-7 in league play.  The Fighting Scots will be back in action at 2:00 on Tuesday when they travel to Bristol, R.I. to face Roger Williams.  Wentworth hosts Newbury on Thursday at 3:00.
