Men's Tennis Defeated by Roger Williams in Season Finale

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team saw its 2017-2018 campaign come to an end as the Leopards were defeated by Roger Williams, 9-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference play Tuesday afternoon.

With the win the Hawks improve to 9-5 overall and 6-2 in CCC play and will host Western New England in a CCC Tournament First-Round match on Saturday. Wentworth sees its season come to an end with a 5-9 (2-6) record.

At No. 2 doubles, freshman Jared Deibe (Oakland, N.J.) and sophomore Brendan White (Old Lyme, Conn.) defeated senior Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.) and sophomore Alex Mularski (Auburn, Mass.), 8-2. Sophomores Jake Cole (Sterling, Va.) and Thomas O'Leary (North Easton, Mass.) defeated freshman Tristan Maus (Mansfield, Mass.) and Jarrett North (Roanoke, Texas) at No. 3 doubles, 8-3. Senior Grant Rosenberg (Melville, N.Y.) and junior Nick Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) gave Roger Williams a 3-0 lead with an 8-5 win over senior Jeff Tocco (Plymouth, Mass.) and freshman Tyler Hall (Framingham, Mass.)

Deibe defeated Maus at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0, before Cole's 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Ly at No. 4 clinched the match for the hosts. O'Leary defeated Mularski at No. 6, 6-1, 6-0, while Rosenberg defeated Hall at No. 4, 6-0, 6-2. Tocco was defeated at No. 1 by White, 6-3, 6-1, and North dropped the first set, 6-1, before forcing a third set with a 7-5 win. In the tiebreaker, he was defeated, 10-4.
