The Student-Athlete Experience: Colleen Sullivan

Freshman Colleen Sullivan (Bridgewater, Mass.) had a memorable freshman season for the Wentworth Institute of Technology track and field team as she became Wentworth's first female track student-athlete to qualify for the New England Division III Championship. Sullivan earned her qualification when she placed first in the 600-meter run at the Brandeis Reggie Poyau Invitational on January 11 with a personal best time of 1:44.02.

In her first collegiate race, the Emmanuel College Indoor Opener, she placed fourth in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:25.20, had a fifth-place finish (1:04.49) in the 400-meters at the Tufts Jumbo Invitational, and ran a 1:44.81 to finish third at the Panther Invitational. Additionally, she posted a time of 2:25.52 in the 800 meters at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic which also qualified her for the New England Championships.

Sullivan rounded out her rookie indoor campaign by finishing with a time of 1:45.75 at the New England Championship, which was held at Middlebury College. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Wentworth's inaugural season of outdoor track and field was canceled.

As part of Division III Week, Sullivan talked about her experiences as a student-athlete during her freshman year.
