All-Region Honors Bestowed on Moser, Pierce

BOSTON, Mass. – The inaugural Wentworth Institute of Technology outdoor track & field season concluded on a high note with two student-athletes being named to the 2021 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field All-Region Team, as selected by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the regular season. Junior Kyle Moser (Southbury, Conn.) earned all-region honors in the shot put while sophomore Jared Pierce (Biddeford, Maine) was an all-region selection in the discus.

Student-athletes were named to the all-region team by being a top-five individual in each event from each region, in addition to each of the members of a top-three ranked relay team.

Moser had the second-longest shot put throw in New England Division III this season at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Invitational Championship on May 2, which was 14.92 meters (48 feet, 11.5 inches). This mark was a personal best, program record, and a meet record. He had a second-place finish at the Gordon Invitational (13.48 meters) and a second-place finish at the Suffolk Invitational (13.57 meters) prior to the CCC Championship. He placed 21st at the NEICAAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a mark of 13.71 meters. He also competed in the shot put, hammer, and javelin throughout the season.

Pierce had the second-longest discus throw in New England Division III this season at the Suffolk Invitational, recording a mark of 44.80 meters (147 feet) to record a personal best, program record, and a first-place finish. He enjoyed a first-place finish at both the Gordon Invitational (43.90 meters) and the CCC Championship (42.97 meters). At the NEICAAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, he placed 16th with a throw of 40.84 meters. Pierce also competed in both the shot put and the hammer this season and holds the program record in the hammer (37.30 meters).
