BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Nikki Bukovsky (Westport, Conn.) went 5-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and a pair of walks over the doubleheader, as the Salve Regina softball team swept Wentworth Institute of Technology in Commonwealth Coast Conference play Sunday afternoon on Carr Diamond at Sweeney Field. The Seahawks took the first game 9-2 and won the second game 9-1 (five innings).
With the wins, Salve Regina stands at 4-8 (2-0 CCC) while the Leopards drop to 0-10 (0-4 CCC).

Junior Karsyn Sawyer (Chatham, N.Y.) hit a sac fly to left to score senior Sam Curran (Quincy, Mass.) to make it 2-0 for the Black and Gold.
Bukovsky led off the bottom of the first with a solo home-run. A single by Kara O'Riley (Acton, Mass.) scored junior Genevieve Benoit (Swampscott, Mass.) to make it 2-2 after one. Salve jumped on top in the next inning, scoring five runs off five hits to lead 7-2. A pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth wrapped up the scoring, giving Salve the 9-2 win.

After a scoreless top of the first in game two, the Seahawks jumped on top 2-0 after the first inning. Wentworth's lone run came in the top of the second after Pinkston scored on a wild pitch. Salve Regina tallied another pair of runs in the fourth thanks to a two run, ground-rule double by junior Melissa Figueiredo (East Bridgewater, Mass.) to make it 4-1. Salve's five runs off six hits in the bottom of the fifth ended the game, giving the Seahawks the 9-1 victory.
