Women's Lacrosse Battles Curry in Final Road Game of the Season

MILTON, Mass. – Playing in its final road game of the 2024 campaign, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team was defeated by Curry, 21-3

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Curry jumped out to a 7-0 lead before freshman Kiki Dempsey (Stonington, Conn.) got Wentworth on the board with 2:46 left in the opening frame. The Colonels scored the last two goals of the first quarter and led, 9-1, after the first 15 minutes of action.
  • After the hosts went ahead, 10-1, early in the second quarter, sophomore Maggie McCann (North Grafton, Mass.) and sophomore Aliviah MacCormack (Westford, Mass.) scored within six and a half minutes of each other, cutting the lead to 9-3.
  • Curry scored the final four goals of the second quarter to take a 13-3 lead at the break and scored all eight goals in the second half.
  • In addition to scoring a goal, McCann won a pair of draw controls. Graduate student Mckenzie Matz (Wilbraham, Mass.) scooped up three ground balls, while junior Kaitlyn Kozak (Saddle Brook, N.J.) caused two turnovers. Juniors Hayden Saunders (Old Lyme, Conn.) and Lily Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J.) each played 30 minutes in goal, making eight and four stops, respectively.

  • Today was the 11th all-time meeting between the two teams.
