Women's Soccer Earns NCAA Regional Ranking

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team is enjoying its finest season to date and today the Leopards have earned their first-ever regional ranking by the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Committee. In the second of three published rankings, the Leopards are ranked 12th with a 14-2-1 record through October 26.

Including last night's 3-1 win at Eastern Nazarene, Wentworth sits at 15-2-1 overall. Winners of a program-record 10 games in a row, the Leopards have tied the program record for wins, which was set when the 2002 team finished 15-5. Through 18 games the Black & Gold are outscoring their opponents by a 38-9 margin and have only given up more than one goal in a game just one time.

In the three published regional rankings, 12 teams from the New England region are ranked and the regional advisory committee bases its ranking off of not only winning percentage, but a weighted formula containing opponent winning percentage and opponent's opponent winning percentage to calculate an in-division strength of schedule number. Through games of October 26, Wentworth's SOS was .525. Two of the Leopards' previous opponents this season are also ranked – Roger Williams (fourth) and WPI (10th).

Wentworth will host a Commonwealth Coast Conference Quarterfinal on Saturday against an opponent to be announced at either 12:00 or 3:00. Pairings will be announced this evening.
