Jenn Kelemen Named Head Women's Volleyball Coach

BOSTON, Mass. – Former Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball standout Jenn Kelemen has been named the program's new head coach, as announced by director of athletics Lee Conrad.  The appointment is effective immediately.

"Jenn knows the Wentworth program and student-athlete extremely well," said Conrad.  "She is a leader who possesses a strong knowledge of fundamentals and both the enthusiasm and dedication to put them in play.  All of these qualities will help in putting a competitive team on the court."

A native of Newburgh, N.Y., Kelemen was a member of the Leopards from 2005-2008 and served as the team's captain during her senior season.  A defensive specialist during her career, she amassed a program-best 994 digs in 96 matches (326 sets).  During her junior season, when she was named the team's most valuable player, she posted the third highest single season dig total in program history with 308, which included a match record 23 digs in a three-set win over Newbury.  She helped lead the team to appearances in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament during her freshman and sophomore seasons, including helping the team go 14-14 in 2005, which stands as the best record the women's volleyball team has had.

In addition to being the program's all-time leader in digs, Kelemen ranks second in digs per set (3.05), while her 96 matches and 326 sets played in both rank her sixth on the program's all-time list.  Over the course of her career she served 96 aces, including 38 as a sophomore, which ranks her 10th all-time.  Kelemen, who graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, joined the Leopard staff late last season in a volunteer assistant capacity.  She is employed by the New England Conservatory of Music as an Operations & Facilities Administrator and resides in Boston.

"I am very glad to be given the opportunity to continue my career with the Wentworth women's volleyball team," said Kelemen.  "I am excited as we prepare for the start of the year and am looking forward to what should be a very competitive season.  I hope everyone in the Wentworth community will have an opportunity to come out and support our team this fall."

Wentworth finished last season with a 4-25 record.  Hoping to make the conference tournament for the first time since the 2006 season, the Leopards open the 2010 campaign on Saturday, September 4, in a quad-match at Wheaton College.
